I visited Mostar for the first time in the year 2006. I was staying in Dubrovnic Croatia, and i saw a coach trip advertised. I took it and enjoyed a interesting day out. -- 4 years later i decided to stay in Mostar overnight. Arriving by ferry in Spit Croatia ,i bought a ticket for the bus to Mostar, Bosnia Herzegovina . it had two stops on the way. Lovely scenery. On arriving at Mostar bus station, as is usual men and women greet the passengers with places to stay. That is how i came to be at the Villa Sara. A self service hostel, with room en suite and use of the laundry and kitchen. Villa Sara was halfway between the station and town centre.--- Mostar is a city in Bosnia Herzegovina. Altitude 60m. on the River Neretva. The Stari Most or old bridge was built by the Ottomans in the 16th century.. It was destroyed in the Bosnian War in 1992. Bosnia Herzegovina had declared independance from Yugoslavia. The War lasted from 1992 to 1995,. The bridge was restored in 2004 to the original design of humpbacked at 4m high. On this visit men in swimming trunks on top of the bridge dived into the river for tourist money. - An enjoyable meal i had was Cevapi, Lamb and Beef sausages served in a Bosnian Pita bread envelope, with onions. Two visits 2006 and 2010 both in September.CROATIA, -- Coffee stop on way to Mostar by bus, from Spit Croatia.

I've been to Mostar. It's all been beautifully restored in the centre. When we visited there were still a lot of bombed out buildings further out. It was a place we both really liked though.
